Special Requests –
Under 5 and 6 players that are residents of GLASA and have never registered in any association may request to play with a friend. No player U7 and above can request a specific player or team and will automatically be placed into the blind player draw. No exceptions.  If a player lives outside GLASA 's territory then we can not honor the request to play with a friend this is per North Texas rules in which we are mandated to follow. Spring 2007 will not have the buddy system for returning players in U5 and U6 and there will be no buddy system for any U7 player at all.

Special requests will only be accepted from a parent(s) and must be in writing and received by registration deadline. The request will be reviewed by the Special Request Committee appointed by GLASA Board of Directors.

3. Can I get my registration back if my child is not placed on the team he/she wanted to be on?
GLASA does not issue refunds.

4. What does my child need in order to participate?
Each player needs to have shine guards, soccer ball, and soccer shoes in addition to the team uniform. Uniforms will be selected by the team and the coach. Parents are financially responsible for purchasing the uniforms unless a sponsor can be obtained to help offset the cost. It is at the team's discretion whether or not to obtain a sponsor.

*New Under 5 players will pay an extra $17.00 for a uniform

GLASA has no involvement with team sponsorship. If you would like to sponsor your team, or know of someone who would, please discuss this with the coach.

5. What times and days do teams practice and when are games?
The individual coach will set all practices and locations of practice. We do not govern how many or how often teams practice. We have games throughout the week Monday through Saturday.

At this time GLASA is re assessing the GLASA playing fields. We will have an update by August as to what age brackets are playing at what fields. Please check back on our website at glasasoccer.org in August.

6. What are the rules of my child's age group?
The rules can be found in our GLASA rulebook. The rule book can be found on the GLASA web site plus each coach should have a rulebook.

7. Who do we call if we have questions about the league?
For all general questions, please ask your child's coach. If they do not know, the coach should contact their age group commissioner or the League Director. The commissioners and league directors e-mail address are found on the board of directors page on the web site. Or you may call the GLASA office at 972-221-4623 or e-mail them at glasa@verizon.net. You may also check the web site at www.glasasoccer.org for information. All parents should go through these steps before trying to reach the President, Vice President, etc. If the coach, the commissioner and league director have not helped you, please email or call the GLASA office.

The volunteers on the board do work out of their home, so please be patient when waiting for a return call or email.

8. Who are the coach's?
Coaches are parents just like you who are volunteering their time. So please support your coach and assistant coach. They are volunteering their time to teach your kids soccer. Most of them have full time jobs and do this because they love it. Please note that we need one volunteer coach for every six children that register in Under 5 and Under 6. If we do not get enough volunteer coaches, then we will not be able to place all the children. Please consider coaching.

9). What do I need to do to become a GLASA coach for my child?
Please call the GLASA office at 972-221-4623 for information on how to register as a coach.

10. Do I need any training to coach?
Yes you do. NTSSA through GLASA offers a G, and usually a F clinic each season. You are required to have one of these certificates to coach by the end of your first year coaching. These clinics are free to GLASA coaches and take any where form 4 hours to 8 hours. Please visit our web site for more information on the clinics they are listed on the coaches page. Every coach and manger on the team will be issued coaches ID cards and are required to wear them at practices and games.

11 . Team Manager/Parent
Please volunteer to help your coach in any way possible. Each coach will need a team parent/manager. This person will help establish and maintain a roster with additional information including mobile phone numbers and e-mails. This information should ONLY be shared with members of that team. This information is optional. The team parent will also help notify other parents of change in practice, games and rainout information. Please consider coordinating these activities for your team. If you are team manager please call the GLASA office for information on how to register.

12. How do we  place the players on teams?
All U7 through U19’s go into a separate blind player pool for each age group. We attempt to place players on teams based on their home LISD school. We do not guarantee that they will be placed on a team in their area; we do our best to place them as close as possible. Each team will draw until they are at roster size. A player U7 and above cannot request to be placed on any certain team or play with a certain player. Only siblings can play together if they are in the same age group or want to play up one to two age groups and there is room on the team.

13. Referees
Please show respect to the match officials before, during and after the game.  While you may not agree with the referee's calls or non-calls, getting upset and yelling at the referee is not the optimum way to deal with that disagreement.

If you have issues with the way a game was officiated, please talk it over with your coach.  If the coach and you agree that there was a problem, then you or the coach should submit a complaint/letter of concern to the Director of Referees.  The Director of Referee's email is available on the GLASA website.

The Director of Referees, the referee assignors, and senior members of the Referee Association are constantly mentoring and providing direction and instruction to all referees.  If there are issues with regards to the application of the Laws of the Game and the GLASA rules, the Director of Referees and staff will communicate the correct application to all referees who work in GLASA.

GLASA uses only certified USSF referees.  All referees in North Texas are required to recertify every year.  Referees who fail recertification will not be assigned games in North Texas and GLASA.

14. You are responsible for your actions.
If parents are yelling at officials from the sidelines the team coach will be carded. If the coach receives a red card he will be suspended from the reminder of that game and the next. This is not beneficial for the parent, the coach or the team. Please show good sportsmanship at all times. You are an example to the kids and we appreciate everyone's help to make this a great league.

Please review NTSSA Rule  Chapter 11 For coaches conduct rule 11.1 and article VII. Parents code of conduct rule 11.2. Also GLASA has a zero Tolerance policy that is located on our web page under rules.

15. Parents - Do not coach from the sidelines.
If you want to coach please sign up as a volunteer.

16. GLASA Tee-shirts and Team Photos.
Pictures are taken each season if the team desires. We usually set up two photo shoot days early in the season for team and individual pictures to be taken at the different soccer complexes.

Tee-shirts are given to each player and coach in the  Fall of each year. Please check your  personal information on sports pilot to see that you have to correct size listed.

17. Field conditions
Please check the website at ww.glasasocer.org and for rain out information or please call 972-738-9700. The office line will not be updated for weather information.
